Thankful

It doesn’t take Thanksgiving to remind me of all I have to be thankful for. But, it’s a great excuse to cook a turkey and eat pumpkin pie (my favorite!) with a huge dollop of home whipped cream.  Boy, I love pumpkin pie – thank you, Ingles (I don’t do pies)! And rain! Just in time for Thanksgiving, a front came by and dropped a whopping 2 1/2 inches of rain, spaced gently over a 12 hour period. I don’t remember when I last saw over an inch recorded on our rain gauge. With the front came freezing temperatures.  I am sure thankful for our warm and snuggly little house.  We spent the fourteen winters before finishing up this house in an elderly uninsulated house.  I’m consistently suprised when I open the door and realize how hard the wind is blowing.  At the Virge Smith house, you always knew how hard the wind was blowing outside since it was blowing almost as hard inside as out!

More reasons to be thankful!
