What’s on the loom? on the hook? the stove? in the basket?

I like the blogs that have sidebars stating “what I’m spinning/knitting/cooking, etc”.  I don’t think I can do that with this blog, so I’ll improvise.

 What I (was) weaving:

Fleece woven rug

This rug just went off to Ohio.  It’s woven with locks from Jacob Sheep. The locks are individually rolled and placed in the warp by hand.   This came off my big Mac, which is currently sitting lonely and unwarped in a corner, while I warp my baby Mac for some 6 shaft dish towels.

What’s I’m crocheting:

Four shades of natural colored cashmere – boy is this soft!  I spin the cashmere in random plucks of color and then navajo ply for a yarn that sports all the individual colors, plus blends of all the colors.  Hmm.. is there a trend here?  Do I like natural colors?  Yep! but the dishtowels are going to be purple, so there’s room for some color in my life :-)

Today it’s apparent that winter is here – 37 for a high, winds up to 40 mph, and raining.  A good day to rush through the outside chores and return to the warmth of our snuggly little house, do some spinning, watch Jack Bauer once again save America at the cost of his soul, and put a chicken in the oven to roast.  I discovered a new dish the other day.  It’s so simple and SO good that I don’t know how it took me so long to discover it.  Oven roast cauliflower – cut up cauliflower, toss in olive oil – add some herbs if you’d like (I used a touch of chipolte powder) – and roast at 425 for 15 minutes or so.  Honestly, this is worth trying.

And… the basket…
